Veo 3.1 (Quality) on imaginary.app: specs, credit costs and honest pricing

Veo 3.1, labelled Quality in our generator, is Google's top Veo model: 4, 6 or 8-second clips at 720p, 1080p or 4K, with optional native audio. An 8-second 1080p clip with audio costs 26 credits ($5.55–$6.49) here. That is more than Google Cloud's list price, but it needs no Cloud account or subscription, and it keeps working after Flow retires the model on December 5, 2026.

Key takeaways

  • Quality runs Google's veo-3.1-generate-001 model on Google Cloud: text-to-video, image-to-video and first-and-last-frame, in 16:9 or 9:16.
  • Costs run from 7 credits (4 s, no audio) to 38 credits (8 s, 4K, with audio). 720p and 1080p cost the same.
  • Per clip we cost about 1.7–2.0× Google Cloud's list price for an 8-second 1080p clip with audio. We don't claim to be cheaper.
  • Google retires Veo 3.1 Quality in Flow on December 5, 2026; it stays available here because we use the Google Cloud model.

What Veo 3.1 is, and why we call it Quality

Veo 3.1 is Google DeepMind's video model with synchronized audio: the same generation produces the picture plus dialogue, sound effects and ambient sound. Google sells three versions of it. Veo 3.1 is the full-quality model; Veo 3.1 Fast and Veo 3.1 Lite trade some quality for lower price. Our generator shows them as three buttons, Fast, Quality and Lite, so "Quality" on imaginary.app means the full Veo 3.1 model and nothing else.

It replaced Veo 3, which Google retired on June 30, 2026. There is no "Veo 4": Google's newer video line is Gemini Omni, which we don't offer. Our explainer on Veo 4 rumours covers that, and Veo 3.1 vs Gemini Omni Flash compares the two.

If you're choosing between the three Veo 3.1 versions, the short version is: Quality for final renders and anything with dialogue, Fast for most everyday work, Lite for drafts. The Lite vs Fast vs Quality comparison goes deeper.

Veo 3.1 specs: what Google offers and what you can use here

What Veo 3.1 costs on imaginary.app

You pay in credits. Credits cost between $0.21 and $0.25 each, depending on which pack or plan you buy; the smallest one-time pack is $9.99. Here is every Quality combination, straight from our pricing catalog:

  • 720p and 1080p cost exactly the same, so there is no reason to pick 720p to save credits.
  • Audio doubles the price: an 8-second 1080p clip is 13 credits silent and 26 with audio. 4K raises it again.
  • 4K with audio is the top of the range at 38 credits ($8.11–$9.49) for 8 seconds.
  • The same 8-second 1080p clip with audio on Fast is 10 credits, so Quality costs about 2.6 times as much as Fast.
  • Image-to-video and first-and-last-frame cost the same as text-to-video.

To price a whole project, use the Veo 3.1 cost calculator. Credits are taken when a generation starts and returned automatically if it fails.

Honest price comparison: Google Cloud, Flow and us

Google Cloud lists Veo 3.1 at a price per "count", which resellers bill as one second of video. Read that way, multiply by eight for the raw cost of one clip. We charge more than that:

Veo 3.1 (Quality), one 8-second clip. Google Cloud column = Google's published per-second list price × 8 (Google labels the unit "count"; resellers bill it per second).

Google Flow, Google's consumer filmmaking app, charges 100 Flow credits for a Quality video. If you use every credit of a $19.99/month Google AI Pro plan, that is about $2.00 a video, which is also cheaper than us, with the catch that Quality leaves Flow on December 5, 2026.

Flow prices assume you use every credit in the plan each month; unused monthly credits don't roll over.

Who we're for

  • You want Veo 3.1 Quality without creating a Google Cloud project, billing account and service account.
  • You make only a few videos and would rather buy a pack once than keep a monthly subscription. The $9.99 Basic Pack (40 credits) covers 1 clip of 8-second 1080p Quality with audio, or 3 clips without audio.
  • You were using Quality in Flow and need it after December 5, 2026.
  • You want failed generations refunded and one API key for every model we offer.

When you should not use us

  • You generate at volume and already run Google Cloud: calling Google directly at list price costs less per clip.
  • You need reference images or clip extension, which we don't expose.
  • You already pay for Google AI Pro or Ultra and only need Quality before December 5, 2026: your plan credits are cheaper.

The Flow retirement and the Gemini API shutdown

Two Google changes in late 2026 decide where Veo 3.1 Quality is still available:

  • October 22, 2026: Google shut down the Veo 3.1 preview models on the Gemini API (the API behind AI Studio keys). Apps built on those model IDs stopped working. Details in our Gemini API shutdown guide.
  • December 5, 2026: Flow retires Veo 3.1 Fast and Quality. Lite stays in Flow. See the Flow retirement guide for what changes for subscribers.

Neither change affects imaginary.app. We call veo-3.1-generate-001 on Google Cloud, where Veo 3.1 is generally available and listed as supported until “May 4, 2027 or later”.

Real Veo 3.1 Quality videos from our gallery

These were generated on Quality by imaginary.app users and shared to the public gallery. The supernova clip states its purpose ("suitable for a website hero section") and asks for a dark background and one slow camera move, which suits a background behind page text. The warriors and sock clips put sound in its own Audio: line, yet both shared files have no sound track: either With Audio was off or the model returned a silent clip. An audio line in the prompt does not switch sound on by itself.

  • Veo 3.1 (Quality) · 6 s · landscape · no sound track

“Cinematic wide shot of a deep, photorealistic night sky. In the center, a breathtaking supernova slowly expands … slow and smooth forward camera movement, dark background, suitable for a website hero section.”

A 6-second clip on this model costs 10–29 credits, depending on resolution and audio.

  • Veo 3.1 (Quality) · 4 s · vertical · no sound track

“Two warriors crouched above a river, watching a distant tribe across the water. Audio: slow river flow, wind through grass, faint distant voices, low ominous hum.”

A 4-second clip on this model costs 7–19 credits, depending on resolution and audio.

  • Veo 3.1 (Quality) · 6 s · vertical · no sound track

“Vertical 9:16 smartphone video, UGC style. POV shot: a foot in a white sock slides into a damp running shoe … Audio: the damp fabric sound, a disgusted "ugh" grunt, birds chirping faintly outside.”

A 6-second clip on this model costs 10–29 credits, depending on resolution and audio.

    Watch it in the gallery

Videos and prompts were made and shared publicly by our users; prompts are quoted as written, shortened with “…”. The gallery does not record the resolution a clip was made with; we checked each file for a sound track.

Note that the sock clip's prompt asks for "Vertical 9:16", but orientation comes from the aspect-ratio setting, not the prompt; choose 9:16 in the generator. More prompt patterns are in the Veo 3.1 prompting guide.

How to generate a Veo 3.1 Quality video

  1. Sign in

Open the generator and sign in with Google. No credit card is needed to create an account; you buy credits on the pricing page when you need them.
  2. Choose Text-to-Video or Image-to-Video

Text-to-Video needs a prompt. Image-to-Video takes a first-frame image and an optional last frame; see the image-to-video guide.
  3. Write the prompt

Describe shot type, subject, action, setting, camera movement and style, then sound on its own line. Prompts can be up to 2,000 characters; the Enhance button rewrites a rough prompt into a fuller one, and you can undo it.
  4. Pick Quality, then resolution

Click Quality under Model, then pick 720p, 1080p or 4K. Switching models resets 4K to 1080p, so choose the model first.
  5. Set aspect ratio, duration and audio

Choose 16:9 or 9:16, then 4s, 6s or 8s, and turn With Audio on if you want sound. The credit cost appears next to the Generate Video button and updates as you change settings.
  6. Generate and download

Click Generate Video. The clip renders on our servers, so you can leave the page and find it later in My Creations. If generation fails, the credits go back to your balance.

Using Veo 3.1 Quality from the API

Developers send "model": "veo3-quality" with "modelVersion": "3.1" to POST /api/generate using a veo_ API key, then poll GET /api/status/:taskId. Credits and refunds work the same as on the web. The developer API always requires a prompt, including for image-to-video. Full request and response formats are in the API documentation, and you can create a key on the API page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Veo 3.1 the same as "Quality" on imaginary.app?

Yes. In our generator the model buttons read Fast, Quality and Lite. Quality calls Google's veo-3.1-generate-001 model on Google Cloud, which Google simply calls Veo 3.1. Fast and Lite are the cheaper Veo 3.1 Fast and Veo 3.1 Lite models.

How much does one Veo 3.1 video cost here?

An 8-second 1080p clip with audio costs 26 credits, which is $5.55–$6.49 depending on the plan you bought credits with. The cheapest Quality clip (4 seconds, no audio) is 7 credits, and the most expensive (8 seconds, 4K, with audio) is 38 credits. Image-to-video costs the same as text-to-video.

Does Veo 3.1 cost less here than on Google Cloud?

No, not per clip. Google Cloud's list price for an 8-second 1080p clip with audio works out to about $3.20; the same clip costs $5.55–$6.49 here. What you pay for is no Google Cloud setup, one-time packs from $9.99, refunds on failed generations, and a simple web app and API.

Will Veo 3.1 still work after Google Flow drops it?

Google says Flow retires Veo 3.1 Fast and Quality on December 5, 2026. We call veo-3.1-generate-001 on Google Cloud, where it is generally available and listed as supported until “May 4, 2027 or later”, so Veo 3.1 stays available here after the Flow change.

Can I make videos longer than 8 seconds?

Not in one generation. Every Veo 3.1 clip here is 4, 6 or 8 seconds. Longer videos are made by generating several clips and editing them together; using the last frame of one clip as the first frame of the next helps continuity.

Does every Veo 3.1 clip come with sound?

Audio is a toggle. With it on, Veo 3.1 generates dialogue, sound effects and ambience with the picture. Our generator labels audio as experimental because some clips come back without sound, and notes that the high-quality mode is more likely to generate sound.
